What is the value of in-person interactions with potential sponsors versus digital outreach?
Answered in: 2022 MX Sponsorship Summit: Getting Into the MediaThe Answer
In-person interactions are significantly more impactful than emails or social media messages. Most company owners and decision-makers are older and value old-school relationship building - firm handshakes, eye contact, and real conversations. Go to events and introduce yourself to brand representatives. Even if they say no initially, you're planting a seed. Max Lee shared that kids who approach him at events to say thanks - even ones he doesn't sponsor - stand out, and when their emails come in later, he remembers them. Some riders have gotten factory rides by showing up at race shops every day to demonstrate their commitment.
