What is the difference between a sponsorship deck and a proposal, and when should I use each?
Answered in: 2022 Motorsports Sponsorship Summit part 1The Answer
A deck is a colorful, photo-heavy document used to start conversations and get attention - it's 'eye candy' that showcases your intangibles like reputation and fan engagement. Send decks anytime to build relationships. A proposal is a text-based Word document listing specific deliverables and their values - it's what you send when asking for money. Send proposals around August-September when companies are making budget decisions for the next fiscal year. Joe Parsons from Monster Energy noted he doesn't do deals off unsolicited decks - he requests decks only to sell opportunities to his upper management after relationships are established.
